Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult and Old Age Psychiatry
Specialist training in Neurodevelopmental Disorders and ADHD
What is your journey into MD, and what inspired you to specialise in ADHD?
I chose psychiatry as my specialist training because of my strong personal values of empathy, kindness, and being a good listener. These values inspired my curiosity to better understand the science behind mental disorders and neuroscience. My training experience spans the UK, Australia, and Bermuda. My personal experience with ADHD, together with a strong family history, further inspired me to focus on ADHD care and complete specialist certification in this area.
What is your philosophy or approach when it comes to treating ADHD?
My approach to ADHD care is based on empathy, active listening, and evidence-based practice. I believe ADHD support should help patients understand their lifelong patterns of struggle in a clear and compassionate way. My goal is to provide safe, effective, and supportive care tailored to each person's needs, while helping patients feel heard, valued, and understood.
How do you see telepsychiatry improving access to ADHD care?
I believe telepsychiatry plays a pivotal role in providing safe, timely, and accessible ADHD care. It can help patients receive support more quickly, reduce barriers such as travel and long waiting times, and make follow-up care more convenient. While telepsychiatry has some limitations, I see it as an evolving and valuable part of modern mental health care.
What's one thing you hope your patients feel after their first session with you?
I hope my patients feel heard, valued, and understood after their first session. I want each patient to feel that their experiences have been taken seriously and that they have received clear, compassionate, and evidence-based guidance.
What would you like to share with your patients as you begin this journey with FasTreat?
I would like patients to know that my goal is to provide evidence-based diagnosis and management in the simplest and clearest way possible. Drawing on both my clinical expertise and personal experience, I hope to encourage patients to better understand their ADHD and feel supported throughout their care journey.
If you could describe your approach to ADHD care in three words, what would they be?In one sentence, what does ADHD support mean to you?
ADHD support means understanding a patient's lifelong pattern of struggles and providing person-centred care that helps them feel supported, empowered, and understood.
