Getting to Know Dr Lewis

What is your journey into psychiatry, and what inspired you to specialise in ADHD?
With more than 25 years of experience as a medical doctor, I have dedicated my career to understanding people and supporting them to thrive. My interest in neurodevelopmental conditions grew steadily throughout my clinical work, and I became particularly passionate about ADHD — a condition that is often overlooked, yet life-changing when properly recognised. I pursued specialist ADHD training, completed supervised diagnostic practice, and continue to undertake regular CPD in line with NICE guidance. I also trained as an executive and cognitive behavioural coach, allowing me to combine clinical expertise with practical, strengths-based support.
What is your philosophy or approach when it comes to treating ADHD?
My approach is thorough, evidence-based, and compassionate. I aim to provide assessments that not only clarify a diagnosis, but also help individuals understand themselves more fully and move forward with confidence.
How do you see telepsychiatry improving access to ADHD care?
Telepsychiatry makes ADHD care faster, more accessible, and more consistent. It removes travel barriers, shortens waiting times, and allows people to be assessed and supported from home, especially those who struggle with organisation, anxiety, or busy schedules. It also expands access to specialist clinicians, helping individuals receive high-quality ADHD assessment and follow-up regardless of where they live.
What’s one thing you hope your patients feel after their first session with you?
Relief and reassurance.
What would you like to share with your patients as you begin this journey with FasTreat?
As a medical doctor, I’ve always practised from the principle that while we cannot always cure, we can always comfort. My aim in every ADHD assessment is to offer that comfort through careful listening, thoughtful exploration, and a process that helps people feel understood, validated, and supported.
If you could describe your approach to ADHD care in three words, what would they be?
In one sentence, what does ADHD support mean to you?
ADHD support means helping someone feel understood, equipped, and genuinely empowered to navigate life with clarity and confidence.
